Guided Tours, The Old Stage

Experience one of Denmark's most iconic cultural venues from the inside.

NOTE!

This tour is in English

Behind the iconic facade on Kongens Nytorv awaits a house where history lives side by side with art. On a guided tour of the Old Stage, you are invited inside the unique universe of the Royal Danish Theatre and one of Denmark's most iconic cultural buildings – a place where the dreams, voices, and stories of generations still seem to linger in the air.

History, Gold, and Royal Footsteps
We take you through the magnificent halls where the glow of chandeliers meets gilded details, and where every single staircase, door, and balcony hide stories of royals, artists, and audiences through more than 250 years. Along the way, our guide shares the history of the house, the people who have left their mark on the stage, and the traditions that continue to make the Old Stage the home of world-class ballet, opera, and drama.

Experience the Magic Behind the Curtain
While the theater breathes between rehearsals and performances, the house opens to offer a rare glimpse into the world that usually hides behind the curtain. Here, architecture, craftsmanship, and performing arts meet in a vibrant narrative of passion, precision, and the eternal search for the sublime moment.

You will gain an insight into the special world that the audience rarely sees – from the beautiful public areas to the stories about the work behind the productions. Each tour offers new perspectives on the building and the artistic work that unfolds both on and behind the stage every single day.

Theater Lover or Just Curious? A Unique Experience Behind the Scenes Awaits You
The tour is for everyone – both those who love theater and those who are simply curious to experience a historic building filled with art, craftsmanship, and vibrant culture.

Whether it is your first visit or you have been here many times before, you will leave with new stories, surprising insights, and an even greater understanding of life on Denmark's national stage.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Guests are allowed to take photographs along the way for private use, but out of respect for the house's artists and technicians, employees at work may not be photographed.
