Beskrevet som havende “en vidunderligt varm klang og en dyb resonans” (Opera News) er barytonen Darren Drone i hast med at etablere sig som en markant skikkelse på operascenen. Med sin stærke scenetilstedeværelse og rige, ekspressive stemme tilfører han tyngde og vokal autoritet til et bredt repertoire – fra Verdis store dramatiske roller til komplekse karakterer i samtidsoperaen.

I denne sæson vender Drone tilbage til The Metropolitan Opera i Porgy & Bess (Begravelsesentreprenøren) og Carmen (cover for Moralès). Han vender også tilbage til Seattle Opera i Carmen (Zuniga) og kan desuden opleves i recital ved Sag Harbor Song Festival. I næste sæson debuterer han i både La bohème og Porgy & Bess.

I sæsonen 2024/25 medvirkede Drone som Amonasro i Aida hos Dayton Opera, sang titelrollen i Falstaff hos Portland Opera og dækkede titelrollen i Rigoletto ved Santa Fe Opera. Andre engagementer omfattede Pagliacci (Tonio) hos Utah Opera, Jubilee (Edmund Watkins) ved Seattle Opera, Cendrillon (Pandolfe) hos Orlando Opera samt Amahl and the Night Visitors (Melchior) med Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle.

This season, Mr. Drone returns to The Metropolitan Opera for Porgy & Bess (Undertaker) and Carmen (Moralès cover).
