Amélie i Operaen

Amélie is a modern Danish brasserie on top of the Opera. A place where classic French craftsmanship meets seasonal Danish ingredients, and where gastronomy, art, architecture and people merge into one unified experience. The restaurant is open to everyone – regardless of whether you have a ticket to a performance or not.

Amélie is a modern Danish brasserie in the heart of one of Denmark's most iconic cultural venues. A place where classic French craftsmanship meets seasonal Danish ingredients, and where gastronomy, art, architecture, and people merge into a single, cohesive experience.

The restaurant was created out of a desire to make the Opera House even more vibrant and accessible – both for opera-goers, locals, and international visitors. With the Opera's new outdoor elevator, guests now have direct access to the restaurant and balcony from street level.

The name Amélie was chosen as a tribute to the intersection of the French and the Danish, the popular and the elegant. At the same time, the name draws a poetic line to Amalienborg Palace and the historical axis of which the Opera House is a part. Amélie is led by restaurant manager Mikkel Borgstrøm and head chef Chris Lindegaard, who share the ambition of creating a place where guests feel just as welcome for a spontaneous glass of wine and dinner as they do for a complete experience before a performance in the auditorium. In the kitchen, the foundation is the classic brasserie – precise craftsmanship, deep flavors, and respect for the season.

In the restaurant, it is all about attentive hospitality and experiences that leave an impression. The result is a place where Danish ingredients, an artistic atmosphere, and gastronomic quality blend seamlessly with views of the harbor, Amalienborg, the horizon, and the performing arts.
