oung voices take over the Opera House's Main Stage when the Speech School Røst and the Royal Danish Theatre join forces to welcome you to an evening celebrating the spoken word and live performing arts. A group of young speakers, sublime ballet and world-class opera, classical musicians from the Royal Danish Orchestra, and an entire hall joining in communal singing from the Folk High School Songbook. ‘Røst in the Opera’ is a spectacular evening where the performing arts provide a magnificent setting for young voices with something on their minds. Throughout the spring, all the evening's speakers have completed an intensive speech school program and are now ready to take the floor from one of the country's most beautiful stages. They will share their thoughts, frustrations, hopes, and dreams in personal speeches about what occupies them right now. The speakers come from various folk high schools as well as central flashpoints in the new world order, and through their words, we are allowed to see the world through different eyes for a while. For what is it like to grow up during Russia's invasion of Ukraine and lose one's home to the occupying power? Or to live as a young woman in Greenland, conscious of all the children who were never born because of the 4,500 IUDs inserted into Greenlandic girls and women at the behest of the Danish government? Or to repeatedly experience racism firsthand as a young person in Denmark with Iranian roots? The young voices unfold in interaction with artists from the Royal Danish Theatre, who give body and tone to the great emotions and our shared narratives. The audience will be guided safely through the evening's program by host Liva Manghezi. Look forward to a moving performance in two inspiring acts, where the spoken word, young voices, song, music, dance, and communal singing come together in perfect harmony. Words create reality, and this evening, the Royal Danish Theatre gives the voice of youth a place on the stage.
