Clara Cecilie Thomsen

Clara graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2015 and from the Opera Academy in Copenhagen in 2018, where she studied with the vocal teacher Susanna Eken.

She has performed with orchestras such as the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Danish Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, and Copenhagen Phil.

She has also appeared across much of Europe, and in 2017 she performed for the first time at the renowned Musikverein concert hall in Vienna together with the Tonkünstler Orchestra and conductor Michael Schønwandt. In 2021, Clara performed with pianist Helmut Deutsch at the Tirol Festival in Erl.

Clara has been a soloist in numerous cantatas and passions, including the soprano parts in Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St John Passion and St Matthew Passion, and Mozart’s Requiem.

At the Royal Danish Theatre, Clara has appeared as Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Gilda in Rigoletto, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Clorinda in Cenerentola, Merab in Saul, Catharina Cavalieri in Amadeus, Valencienne in Die lustige Witve, Musetta in La bohème, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, and Moira in The Handmaid's Tale.

Clara has received several awards, including the Copenhagen Opera Festival’s “Opera Talent of the Year 2018,” the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize 2019, the Carl Nielsen Talent Prize 2019, the Danish Critics’ Circle Talent Prize 2019, and the Aalborg Opera Prize 2020.
