A magic mirror, crafted by the Devil, distorts everything beautiful, making it appear ugly and ridiculous. When the mirror shatters, its splinters rain down upon the world, where childhood friends Kay and Gerda share a deep and loving bond. But when a tiny shard lodges itself in Kay’s eye, his joy and warmth turn to scorn and cold-hearted cynicism. His newfound arrogance catches the attention of the Snow Queen herself, who lures him away with icy kisses and an irresistible embrace. Suddenly, Kay vanishes—without a trace.

The Snow Queen is the story of Gerda, who embarks on a perilous journey to rescue Kay and thaw his frozen heart. With demons at her heels, she braves a world of magic, danger, and mystery—all for the sake of love.

Kim Fupz Aakeson reimagines Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale as a breathtaking outdoor spectacle, bringing to life a timeless tale of devotion and resilience. Nicolei Faber directs this enchanting adventure, leading audiences through a mesmerising world of wonders and perils.

  • PARKING

    Where to park at Moesgaard

Parking close to the performance area

If you want to be sure of parking close to the performance area, you can pre-reserve and pay for a parking space in our special parking area.

The parking is on a field, and from here it is approximately a five-minute walk along a forest path to the performance area. The price for reserved parking is DKK 65, and the parking area opens at 17:00.

If you have reserved parking, you must use the entrance via Emiliedalsvej to the parking area on Ny Moesgaardvej north of Moesgaard's exhibition building.

    BUY PARKING

IMPORTANT! It is only possible to drive to the pre-reserved parking by following the route marked with a blue dashed line on the map.

Limited number of free parking spaces

There is a limited number of free parking spaces in Moesgaard's usual parking lots along and below the museum. These cannot be pre-reserved and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you visit Moesgaard Museum before 17:00, there is free parking in the museum's regular parking lots, and you can remain parked here during the performance.

    Accessible parking

There is accessible parking right by the main entrance to Moesgaard Museum. From here, a paved path leads up to the theater square, which is covered with grass and wood chips.

Moesgaard Museum's own accessible parking spaces are used on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, a limited number of accessible parking spaces in the same area can be pre-reserved via "My page". An accessible parking permit must be visible in the car.

  • THE WEATHER

    How to handle the weather

Please feel free to bring rainwear, but please leave your umbrella at home, as it obstructs the view for the guests behind you. Remember to dress according to the weather and by all means bring blankets or seat cushions so you can stay warm.

You will receive a direct message from us if the performance is canceled. Check that we have your contact info here. As long as it is safe for the audience and cast, we always try to go ahead with the performance.

In the event of a cancellation, special rules apply. Read more about cancellation here.

  • ACCESSIBILITY

    How we take special considerations

    Access conditions

We recommend that guests who want easy access choose seats in section D or C, where there is a ramp. Sections A, B, and C are only accessible via stairs, so it can be challenging here if you have difficulty walking. If you have limited mobility, we also recommend that you buy a ticket at the bottom of the grandstand to avoid having to walk up too many rows.

    Wheelchair spaces

Fixed wheelchair spaces are reserved at Moesgaard, which can be booked through The Royal Danish Theatre's customer service by calling +45 33 69 69 69. The wheelchair spaces are located in section D in front of the first row.

    Rollators and walking frames

You can place your walking frame or rollator at the entrances to the grandstand.

There is a drop-off and pick-up option close to Moesgaard Museum for cars needing to let passengers off.

    Toilet facilities

    Accessible toilets have been established.

    Hearing impaired

Unfortunately, we cannot offer assistive devices for the hearing impaired.

    Service dogs

You are very welcome to bring your service dog to outdoor performances at Moesgaard, as long as it is trained or under training as a service dog and wears a "Dog at work" vest or similar. If you are bringing a service dog, we also ask that you book your ticket through The Royal Danish Theatre's customer service by calling +45 33 69 69 69 well in advance, so we can provide you with the best guidance and place you and your dog optimally in the grandstand.
