DYR Det indre Menneskedyr

A powerful, physical, and musical performance created in collaboration with 26 young people and Projekt DanseDrømme’s professional team.

A performance created by 26 young people aged 14-22 with diversity in gender, age, and cultural backgrounds, together with a professional team including a choreographer, composer, and costume designer.

7 aspiring designers join the costume design team working on the deconstruction of recycled clothing.

2-4 young musicians participate and play live for the performance.

”ANIMALS is a powerful and physical performance that examines what happens when we peel away the layers of civilization, expectations, and facades – and let the raw human emerge. The performance dives into the inner lives of young people: their instincts, impulses, fear, desire, and need for community.”

The performance mirrors a generation constantly balancing between being “civilized” and “perfect” – while simultaneously feeling strong emotions of unrest and wildness within. Here, the animalistic becomes a metaphor for everything young people often hide: anger, vulnerability, instinct, and a longing for freedom. “ANIMALS” is an intense, high-energy, and visually strong performance that gives young people a new language for their inner lives – and shows that the animal within us is not something dangerous, but a source of strength, authenticity, and community.

The project is developed - by young people from all over the country - from April until the final performances on August 11, 12, and 17 at Takkelloftet/The Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen.
