Così fan tutte

In this production of Così fan tutte for the Danish Opera Academy, we will explore Mozart and Da Ponte’s comedy as a story about the delicate and sometimes painful passage into adulthood. While the opera is often perceived as a light-hearted farce, we will approach it as a journey in which young people will confront desire, uncertainty, and the moment when one must begin to take responsibility for one’s choices. The “experiment” at the center of the plot will become a catalyst that will push the characters to grow, to face uncomfortable truths, and to recognise that love and life are rarely as simple as they once believed.

Working together as a team of emerging artists and mentors, we will focus on the freshness and honesty that arise from this transition from innocence to experience. Our hope is that the production will invite audiences to reflect on the universal process of growing up and embracing life in all its complexity.
