The Last Waltz
After a completely sold-out concert in 2016, 'CELEBRATING THE LAST WALTZ' finally returns to the Royal Danish Theatre's iconic Old Stage.
With an authentic and personal homage to one of rock history's most mythical concerts, featuring music by artists such as The Band, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, and Eric Clapton.
'THE END OF AN ERA' On Thanksgiving Day in 1976, The Band gave their legendary farewell concert, The Last Waltz, in San Francisco – a musical pinnacle that brought together a series of the era's greatest musical icons on the same stage, including Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, and many more. The concert, which allegedly put a definitive end to the 'Woodstock era' of the 60s and 70s, was immortalized by film director Martin Scorsese and remains one of the most landmark nights in rock history.
50TH ANNIVERSARY In 2016, 'Celebrating The Last Waltz' filled the Royal Danish Theatre's Old Stage to the breaking point. Now – ten years later – the 15-piece orchestra returns to mark the 50th anniversary of The Last Waltz with a unique and magnificent tribute concert in these beautiful and traditional surroundings.
With profound respect for the original material, a range of the country's strongest voices and musicians present classics such as The Weight, I Shall Be Released, and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. The audience can look forward to an evening where the music and the spirit are brought to life in new, intimate interpretations – with nerve, authenticity, and infectious joy of playing.
CELEBRATING THE LAST WALTZ is more than a concert. It is a musical ritual, a party, and a musical celebration – a rare chance to relive one of rock history's most mythical evenings in the country's most beautiful concert hall.
THE TEAM BEHIND The concert at the Royal Danish Theatre is presented by the team behind, among others, WOODSTOCK ’69 - A Tribute Concert (2019), Kunsten at Glædes i Kor (2022), and Joni Mitchell – A Tribute Concert (2023), all of which have played sold-out concerts at the Royal Danish Theatre and toured throughout the country.
The participating soloists and musicians include profiles who over the years have played with everyone from Johnny Madsen, Poul Krebs, Peter Belli, Erik Clausen, Henning Stærk, Birthe Kjær, and many, many more.

THE PRESS WROTE "... a true musical explosion (…) Uhrban Stöjband laid the foundation all evening, and it was a fabulous foundation. They have such control over the music and their instruments that it almost hurts" Rune Weitling, Budstikken
"Uhrban Stöjband swung formidably as the backbone and foundation of it all. In fact, the performances were so beautiful that there were many misty eyes in the theater hall (...) One can only hope that the musicians thought it was so much fun that they put a tour together so others can enjoy the show. I certainly know someone nearby who would happily travel along" Henrik Flohr, Esbjerg Ugeavis
"... the result was terrific and went straight to the heart of the audience, who filled the hall both nights" Jesper Orry, JyskeVestkysten
