Sebastian og Lis Sørensen

Sebastian and Lis Sørensen – backed by band and strings.

Two of the greatest figures in Danish music history are reviving their iconic collaboration. Under the title Tiderne skifter (The Times They Are a-Changin'), Sebastian and Lis Sørensen will visit the country's concert halls in 2027 – backed by both a band and strings.

In 1979, Sebastian was an established star with several critically acclaimed albums to his name. When he was set to record his Bertolt Brecht interpretations for the album Tiderne skifter, he invited a newer voice into the studio: Lis Sørensen from the trendsetting group Shit & Chanel.

This laid the foundation for one of the most beloved collaborations in Danish music. Lis Sørensen did not just weave her dreamy vocals into Sebastian's songs as a backing singer; she became a permanent member of the Sebastian Band and was given her own songs, most notably 'Stille før storm' (Quiet Before the Storm) from Stjerne til støv.

In 2027, this collaboration will be revitalized as the two soloists go on tour together – for the first time since the 1980s. The songs will be Sebastian's, and Lis Sørensen's regular band, supplemented by a string ensemble, will provide the musical backing.

"Time has passed, and it is important for us to tie a bow on it. Standing there together means a lot to us, and I believe it means a lot to the audience as well," says Lis Sørensen, recalling the beginning of her collaboration with Sebastian:

"For me, it meant gaining access to a type of song I had never sung before. I came from Shit & Chanel, where we created songs in real-time. Sebastian opened the door to a fairytale universe, both in terms of lyrics and his way of composing and arranging. No one wrote songs like him," Lis Sørensen explains, while Sebastian says of her:

"She arrived with an enormous surplus of talent. She can step into and interpret songs, adding a majestic grandeur. A sense of trust quickly developed between us, and we came to mean a great deal to one another."

The upcoming tour is titled Tiderne skifter – a nod both to the origin of their collaboration and to the years that have passed.
