Welcome to the Opera House – an architectural masterpiece where history meets state-of-the-art theater magic. Step inside behind the enormous glass facades on Dokøen and experience one of the world’s most advanced theater buildings up close.

Behind the iconic glass facade on Dokøen lies a world of technical wonders, historical anecdotes, and magnificent architecture, which you will explore at your own group's pace.

What you can look forward to:

• World-class architecture: We meet in the impressive foyer, where we will see Olafur Eliasson’s sparkling light sculptures and the beautiful, stained maple shell that encloses the Main Stage.

• Behind closed doors: Come all the way behind the scenes in the enormous backstage building. We will see how the six large stages and the silent, heavy-as-lead stage wagons make it possible to change gigantic sets in the blink of an eye.

• The magnificent gold ceiling: We step into the vast auditorium and look up at the ceiling covered in genuine 24-karat gold leaf, while you hear about the millimeter-precise acoustics and the historic orchestra, the Royal Danish Orchestra (Det Kongelige Kapel).

• Creative secrets and superstitions: Hear the fun stories about why you must never whistle on stage, or how the painter, Erik Peitersen, mixed beer into the paint to achieve the exact right shade of green on the foyer's large wall.

• The historic Takkelloftet: We visit the Opera House's small stage, which honors the area's past as a naval station, and enjoy the raw view of the mast crane and historic warships.

Practical information for private groups:

• Duration: The tour takes approximately 75 minutes.

• Group size: You can book a private tour for groups of up to either 15 or 30 people. If your group exceeds 30 people, we can run multiple tours simultaneously.

• Language: We offer tours in either Danish or English.

• Flexibility: As this is your private tour, the pace is adapted to your group. Please let us know in advance if any participants have mobility difficulties, as we will be moving across multiple floors in a large building.

A group tour for up to 30 people costs DKK 3,220.
If the number of participants exceeds this, we can arrange multiple tours to run at the same time.
