Teona Todua

Teona Todua was born in Donetsk, Ukraine, and has Georgian roots. She began her musical education studying piano in her hometown before turning to singing. In 2011, she was admitted to the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in opera singing in 2021, followed by a Master’s degree in 2023.

During her studies, she expanded her artistic experience by participating in the Opera Academy of the Polish National Opera. Teona has also won prizes at international competitions, including 3rd prize at the Grandi Voci Competition in Istanbul (January 2020) and 1st prize at the Vasyl Slipak Competition in Lviv (December 2021).

In September 2022, Teona Todua joined the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris. She performed in Rossini’s Stabat Mater at Dijon Opera. At the Paris Opera, she has sung roles such as the Princess in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges (November 2023), directed by Richard Jones and Antony McDonald, and the role of Rose Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene at MC93 Bobigny (April 2024), directed by Ted Huffman and conducted by Perinpanayagam.

In March 2023, she participated in an artistic exchange program with the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

That same summer, she was selected for the prestigious Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival, where she performed the role of Despina in Bohuslav Martinů’s The Greek Passion at the Felsenreitschule, conducted by Maxime Pascal and directed by Simon Stone.

In the 2024–2025 season, Teona appeared in a gala concert at the Palais Garnier under conductor Thomas Hengelbrock (January 2025). While on tour in China, she performed the role of Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen under the baton of Jean-Michel Ferran.

In October 2024, she won 3rd prize at the Neue Stimmen Competition.

In September 2025, Teona made both her role debut and house debut as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at Oper Frankfurt, conducted by Thomas Guggeis and directed by Mariame Clément.

Teona continues to develop her career through solo recitals across Europe and performances in major opera productions.
