Jacob Skov Andersen

Jacob Skov Andersen was born in 1990 and raised in Copenhagen. His musical journey began at the age of nine when he was admitted to the Sankt Annæ Gymnasium singing school. This was followed by several years as a singer with the Copenhagen Boys’ Choir, which laid the foundation for his interest in singing and music.

He graduated from the Opera Academy and has been a member of the soloist ensemble at the Royal Danish Theatre since the 2022/2023 season.

At the Royal Danish Theatre, he has performed roles such as Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Kudriash in Janáček’s Katya Kabanova, Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata, Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, the title role Pierre in Nothing by D. Bruce—for which he won a Reumert Award as “Singer of the Year 2021”—and Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, for which he was nominated for a Reumert Award as Singer of the Year 2023.

Jacob Skov Andersen has also performed several major roles on other Danish stages and at festivals, including a critically acclaimed debut as Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at the opera in Svendborg, Leander in Carl Nielsen’s Maskarade with Helsingør Chamber Opera, and Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème at the Copenhagen Opera Festival.

He is also a frequently engaged soloist in opera concerts and oratorios. His performances include the tenor parts in Verdi’s Requiem with Opera Nordfjord, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, Schubert’s Mass No. 6 with Copenhagen Phil, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with Ensemble Storstrøm, Mozart’s Requiem with both the Royal Danish Orchestra and Copenhagen Phil, Haydn’s Stabat Mater, and Handel’s Messiah on several occasions.

He has also appeared as a soloist in concerts with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Life Guards Music Band.

In 2024, Jacob Skov Andersen was awarded the Aalborg Opera Prize.
