The bus is back on the road! Join Taku and his friends on a poetic and musical journey to the dreamland of Balanka.
Experience – or rediscover – Jakob Martin Strid’s beloved tale The Incredible Bus as it returns to the Main Stage at the Royal Danish Playhouse. The production sold out completely at its world premiere in autumn 2025, and now audiences of all ages once again have the chance to embark on this poetic and playful adventure, created by the artistic team behind The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear.
Life in Ahnstarr City is far from easy for Taku, Spir and their friends. Their small wooden houses on the harbour are about to be demolished, and little Timo has fallen gravely ill from the city’s pollution. Only the rare saffron lily – said to bloom in the dreamland of Balanka – can cure him. When two old Phantom-8 jet engines from a failed expedition 25 years ago are unearthed and a plasma generator is brought back to life, Spir has a daring idea: let’s build a giant bus and travel to Balanka. Everyone joins forces, and before long the incredible bus stands ready to depart, carrying little Timo, Mrs Fribo and their harbour friends.
The journey is fraught with danger. The bus must cross the steepest bridge to the North Pole, traverse icy landscapes and pass through the Last Land, ruled by a fearsome Dictator. But will the bus make it all the way to Balanka?
The Incredible Bus is a story for children and grown-ups alike – for anyone whose imagination is still intact. So, hurry and secure your ticket before the doors close and the adventure begins in the land where anything can happen.
