Step into a magical dream world where beloved children’s songs come to life. A joyful, sing-along musical adventure filled with playful characters, warmth and wonder – created especially for young audiences and their grown-ups.
What happens when all the beloved characters from De små synger meet in the same dreamland? Children and their grown-ups are invited to find out as the pages of Denmark’s favourite children’s songbook spring to life on stage at the Royal Danish Playhouse.
When young Emil falls asleep to his grandmother’s lullaby, he suddenly awakens in a magical dream world where the girl Liva lives. It is a wondrous land, peopled by a host of whimsical figures from De små synger. Ole arrives in his brand-new motorcar, a little Christmas elf sets off on a journey, and there is a kitten and a lark’s nest, two cats on a table, two hares and a not-so-terrifying huntsman. We meet the baker of Nørregade, Søren whose father has money, tingelingelater soldiers, ten little cyclists – and many, many more.
De små synger is a joyful, high-spirited and imaginative theatre concert for children, celebrating the characters generations of Danish children have grown up with, fallen asleep to and learned to play on their first instruments. Director Stine Schrøder Jensen reunites with composer Laus Høybye, continuing the creative partnership that began with the Royal Danish Theatre’s delightfully quirky play for children, The Brats in the Corner House.
