Experience the students from the Royal Danish Ballet School as Frede Stær and his friends bring a feather-brilliant performance to life on the Old Stage.
Frede Stær's dream theatre is an enchanting ballet tale created for – and performed by – children. At its heart stands Frede Stær, an irrepressible entertainer-bird determined to present a grand production in which all the theatre’s art forms take part. Yet instead of applause, he is met with an unsettling silence. The curtain falls, the stage is empty, and Frede is left alone in the dark.
In a brave attempt to manage everything on his own, Frede ventures into an unfamiliar world, where he faces trials that test both his loyalty as a friend and his understanding of how deeply we depend on one another. With the support of a new flock of theatrical companions – the magnificent Tyty Klausen, the fiery Donna Pavone, the expressive Pip Ipsen and the atmospheric Kajsa Grande –Frede finally brings his dream theatre to life. In doing so, he discovers that the performing arts flourish most fully in the spirit of community.
The ballet is performed by students of the Royal Danish Ballet School. Principal dancer Tobias Praetorius has created this charming story of friendship, artistic courage and theatrical magic to newly composed music by Phillip Faber.
