Cinderella

Af Gregory Dean

Love at first sight – that is the magic Cinderella and the Prince discover when they meet at the royal ball. And who has not dreamed of such a moment?

For many children, a first visit to the ballet is shaped by the joy of recognition – and few stories resonate more deeply than one of the world’s most cherished fairytales. The story of Cinderella has captivated generations, and in Gregory Dean’s luminous ballet adaptation, romance unfolds in all its splendour. Set to Prokofiev’s soaring and lyrical score, the tale follows the gentle-hearted girl who, despite hardship and humiliation, remains steadfast in hope. In time, she discovers that patience, courage and kindness are rewarded.

Drawing upon Charles Perrault’s 1697 version, this production embraces all the hallmarks of a true fairytale: sorrow and delight, virtue triumphant over cruelty, and lovers who must endure trials before happiness may be claimed. And, of course, its unforgettable cast of characters: the merciless stepmother, her scheming daughters, a benevolent Fairy Godmother, a retinue of ethereal fairies – and a Prince whose charm changes everything.

Gregory Dean, former Principal Dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet, has previously created the full-length ballets Blixen and Gotta Dance!. His Cinderella is a timeless ballet for audiences of all ages – a testament to the enduring power of love, hope and an open heart to conquer even the darkest night.
