Erika Hammarberg
Erika Hammarberg (13 December 1994, Hyvinkää) is a Helsinki-based singer, songwriter, composer, dancer, and writer. She grew up immersed in the world of folk music and folk dance with her mother, a folk singer, and became familiar with performing on stage from an early age.
In recent years, Hammarberg has worked professionally across the arts, experimenting with a variety of styles and artistic disciplines while maintaining a strong connection to her Finno-Ugric and Nordic roots and traditions.
Among the most significant highlights of her career is the award-winning album Kulku with the multinational band SANS, in which she was one of the lead singers alongside her mother. The album won an Emma Award in 2018 in the Ethno category—the Finnish equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
Her recent work also includes the dramatic productions Ystäväni Tsizik (My Friend Tsizik) and Vulfekin laulu (Song of Vulfek) with Animagio, where she has worked as a scriptwriter and librettist, as well as Kaija Saariaho’s Innocence.
